Programs

AIDS CARE/Hampshire County provides case management and comprehensive support services to people living with the HIV infection to their families and friends.

Eligibility for services

- Anyone living with HIV or AIDS in Hampshire County is eligible for services at AIDS CARE/ Hampshire County (ACHC), regardless of level of need, health status, or ability to pay.

Types of services offered
Case management: Typically this refers to information and assistance accessing health and social services including referrals for dental care, counseling, legal assistance, adult foster care, HIV drug assistance, SSI, Housing, Welfare, Transportation and Financial assistance applications. Referrals to medical professionals experienced in treating HIV+ patients. Advocating for client needs with other community agencies and having a knowledgeable caring person to talk to.
Support Group - We have a weekly group open to all.
Over-the-Counter Medications including vitamins and nutritional supplements. We also cover personal care items such as soap and toothpaste.
Buddy Volunteers to provide caring, non-judgmental Emotional & Practical Support on a regular basis.
Bridge Volunteers provide rides to doctor appointments, grocery shopping as well as help out with errands.
Community Newsletter BI-monthly (6 times a year) to keep consumers, volunteers and supporters informed about our work and issues affecting people living with HIV/AIDS in Hampshire County.
Consumer Advisory Board to review, evaluate and recommend programs.
Emergency grocery funds in the form of gift certificates to local supermarkets.
Acupuncture & Massage Therapy - Licensed practitioners in the county
Garden Project- collaboration between volunteers and consumers to grow food and flowers at a community garden plot. Crops are distributed to ACHC consumers.
Child Care assistance for HIV or case management related issues.
Homemaker Services - Trained Homemakers can help out with cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping.
Mileage Reimbursement or bus passes for HIV or case management related issues. We reimburse costs per mile at an established rate. We will also reimburse associated tolls and parking, if receipts are provided.
Legal Advocacy - The HIV/AIDS Law Consortium provides legal assistance, through a subcontract, to all ACHC consumers.
HIV education for families and caregivers
Resource Library - A collaborative project between ACHC and the Greater Western Massachusetts Prevention Center. Located at the Prevention Center, we have a small collection of educational resources available for loan to people in the community.
Gym memberships - Access to a group membership plan at a local athletic club to promote health and fitness. Limited assistance to purchase pool memberships.
