It was intended that these two programs would place at least 300 homeless or near-homeless households in permanent housing per year. Additionally, REACH services were to be provided to 200 of these households per year, for a total of 400.
The REACH Program, which serves families in Hampshire, Franklin, and north Worcester counties, provides an array of early intervention services to children under three who have, or are at risk for, developmental delays. With its focus on support for families, the program is designed to promote development of the child while increasing the family’s ability to meet the child’s special needs. Emphasis is placed on provision of services in natural environmentsin the home, in daycare centers, parent centers, and other community settings. Assessments, home visits, parent/child playgroups, and other services are conducted by a team of professionals: educators, nurses, nutritionists, occupational and physical therapists, speech pathologists, and social workers. Team members liaise with and make referrals to medical and other community services.
Project Goals
To reduce the energy costs of REACH low-income households.
To increase the regularity of home energy bill payments by participating households.
To increase energy vendor contributions towards reducing energy burdens of eligible households.
