1. The five types of bone fracture are:
(i) Greenstick
fracture, in which the break goes partly through the bone.
(ii) Compound, in which the bone breaks
through the skin.
(iii)
Comminuted, fracture where the bones are shattered
into several pieces.
(iv)
Multiple fracture, in which the bones break in more
than
one place.
(v) Simple fracture, in which
the bones are broken all the way
through in one place but the skin is not torn.
2. PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Photosynthesis, is the name of the process by which
plants produce food through sunlight, water, and air.
3. HYDROPONICS
Hydroponics is growing food without soil. This means
that we can grow food on mats and you can also grow food in a space craft .
4. CACTUSES
Cactuses are the plants that live in the desert.
They have thick skins that keep the water in them from drying up. Their roots
are on the surface of the ground in order to absorb the rain quick when it
falls.
Sap is used for many different things .The
substances that come from Sapodilla, a Mexican jungle plant, is used for making
chewing gum.
We can get turpentine from the pine tree and maple
syrup for our pancakes come from the maple tree.
6. EXPERIMENTS WITH
CELERY PLACED IN WATER AND WITHOUT WATER.
My discovery on the celery placed in water and without water, was that the celery stick with water keeps on living. The one without water died. This showed me that without water plants cannot survive.
7. The Devil Ivy planted in
water and in soil are both doing great.
Yes, they will survive.
I will sing to them every chance I get, and water
them every two to three days. I will also make sure they have enough light,
air, and sunshine.
8. THE
LEAVES COVERED WITH VASELINE
They
seem to be turning yellow on the inside part of the leaves because the Vaseline
that is covering the leaves is not letting air enter into the leaves for the
Devil Ivy leaves to breath. The leaves with out Vaseline seem to be greener and
healthier than the ones covered with Vaseline.
9. THE TALLEST TREES IN
THE WORLD
I have only read about the Sequoia and the Redwood
trees.
They are found near the Pacific coast in Northern
California and Southern Oregon. They can grow as high as a 30-story building. The tallest tree in the World is a Redwood
about 360 feet tall. This redwood tree that is about 360 feet tall tree is
600years old.
Sequoias are among the largest and
oldest living things on earth. Their tough barks grow to be twelve inches thick
or more. The reason why the Sequoias
live so long is because of their thick bark. The Sequoias survive at least one
forest fire in their long lives. It is protected against insects and diseases.
Most giant Sequoias cannot produce seeds until they are about 300 years old.
Scientists believe that the oldest living giant Sequoias tree is 3,000 years
old.
10. SEEDS THAT HITCHIKE AND FLY
They are
shaped like wings. Fliers are carried by air and they
move some distance from their parent plants. Their shapes help them travel. Hitchhikers are carried by animals. They also have tiny hooks that help them hook on to the animals that carry them. Some plants make seeds that can grow into new plants
