Instructor Positions - Greenfield, Amherst and Ware - Applications Due June 20

Position Title: Instructor

Supervisor: Site Director      

Hours: 27-32 hours per week (varies by site), Monday-Friday, for 38 weeks per year; some early evenings required in Greenfield and Amherst; hourly rate of $22/hour with benefits

Positions start September 3, 2018

OVERALL DESCRIPTION:

The Instructor is responsible for planning and teaching 12 hours of adult basic education classes per week to adults and out-of-school youth, integrating career planning, computer literacy, and community engagement activities and implementing evidence-based instructional methods. The Instructor is also responsible for conducting initial and on-going assessments of students, supervising classroom volunteers, keeping records, responding to inquiries,  maintaining the classroom site, and participating in Literacy Project staff meetings and staff development opportunities.  The Instructor works in a team setting with other site staff, including the Site Director, additional Instructors, and the Education and Career Advisor. 

Position Specifics:

In Amherst, the Instructor teaches the high school equivalency and the college readiness classes and provides academic and career advising and support to students.  The position is funded for 32 hours per week; some late afternoon/early evening hours are required.

In Ware, the Instructor teaches the high school equivalency and the college readiness classes.  The position is funded for 27 hours per week.

In Greenfield, the Instructor teaches the adult basic education class (with a grade level equivalency of 4-8) and a multi-level class (with a grade level equivalency of 4-12).  The position is funded for 27 hours per week; some later afternoon/early evening hours are required. 
 

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desired qualifications include: teaching experience in adult basic education utilizing a student-centered approach; knowledge of strategies for working with beginning readers; experience teaching English-language learners; experience with lesson planning and curriculum development; experience working with diverse groups of people including immigrants, refugees, and out-of-school youth; demonstrated group and community-building skills; experience advising adults and knowledge of community resources; excellent interpersonal,  communication, and computer skills.

Hours: 35 hours per week, generally Monday-Friday, hourly rate, range $18-$23/hour, commensurate with experience; fully benefited position

OVERALL DESCRIPTION:

The Fiscal & Office Coordinator is responsible for the general administrative functions and fiscal management of The Literacy Project (TLP) including: billing funding sources; overseeing payroll, processing accounts payable and receivable; monitoring and managing cash flow; maintaining human resource files and activities; and managing office materials and supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree or equivalent relevant experience; five years experience in bookkeeping, experience managing multiple funding sources and fund accounting, budgeting, billing, and payroll in a non-profit organization; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent  organizational and computer skills, specifically with accounting software and Excel; ability to work as a team in a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with contract and grant management and employee benefits and insurance; self-motivated; excellent interpersonal skills; excellent attention to detail while keeping the big picture in view; knowledge of SAGE MIP accounting software, commitment to mission of TLP.

Executive and Development Assistant - POSITION FILLED

Position Title: Executive and Development Assistant

Supervisor: Executive Director/Program Director       

Hours: Non-Exempt Hourly; 15-18 hours per week, at $21.00 per hour, generally Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours

OVERALL DESCRIPTION:

 

The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing support for the Executive Director (ED) and the Program Director (PD) including but not limited to, data entry for volunteer hours and postings, data entry for development, data entry for SNAP, setting up and attending agency meetings and taking minutes, planning and set up for agency fundraising events..

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum 2-3 years relevant work experience. BA Degree or equivalent. Strong computer skills: demonstrated ability to learn new software and guide others in usage including fundraising software, doddle poll, Survey Monkey, Constant Contact, Access and Excel.  Experience with grants management desired. Good critical thinking skills. Able to handle multiple tasks in an efficient manner.  Excellent organization skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, self-motivated, excellent interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.        Data entry and management of development software, including sending mailings.

2.        Support for volunteer coordinator, enter volunteer postings and track volunteer hours.

3.        Enter and track SNAP database.

4.        Support for Student Tracker database

5.        Assist in public relations and communications via Constant Contact and Facebook.

6.        Support the ED in preparing for Board of Director meetings.

7.        Provide staff assistance to Board members including but not limited to the Fundraising Committee.

8.        Attend agency and partner meetings, take minutes.

9.        Track and enter staff development hours.

10.   Develop and maintain professional expertise by attending meetings, conferences, and trainings as appropriate and available. 

11.   Other duties as assigned.
