In her piece, “Reading Challenges and Many Strategies for Learning to Read,” Deb shares her journey of overcoming early struggles with reading and how, even at 72, she continues to learn and grow through her studies at The Literacy Project. With honesty and determination, she describes how closed captions, supportive teachers, and persistence have opened up a new world of opportunities for her.
In addition to being featured, Deb also served on the Editorial Board for recent issues of The Change Agent, lending her perspective and experience to shape how stories are told.
You can read Deb’s full story in The Change Agent, Issue 65: Navigating Disabilities and Learning Differences at School. See page 3. https://changeagent.nelrc.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Issue-65-Navigating-Disablities-and-Learning-Differences-at-School.pdf
